Order Fulfillment
It used to be that “fulfillment” meant, basically, shipping the order. Now there are two kinds of fulfillment, both of which replace many functions that were previously handled on paper. E-fulfillment is, indeed, becoming paperless.
For products that are information or data, there’s the ultimate e-fulfillment: the information is sent immediately over the internet. In other words, the order is placed and payment processed then the information is transmitted to the buyer, and the entire process is almost instantaneous. InteractOne can help you set up fully automated e-fulfillment procedures for these kinds of services.
But even for physical products, fulfillment now requires electronic communications and handling. Customers expect an electronic acknowledgment—by e-mail—that the order has been received. This is a confirmation or a receipt, serving as proof to the customer that the order is being processed correctly. It can also serve as a “Thank You” from you. Taking this a step further, it’s a good idea to also send an e-mail notice when the product ships, with an indication of when to expect its arrival.
Traditional fulfillment is paper-based and labor-intensive. But e-fulfillment does not use trees, ink, or human time. It can be fully automated.
Interoperability
Imagine having to integrate your website, your company intranet, your various hardware and network systems, your order processing procedure, your fulfillment process, your accounting or billing software, and any dynamic databases (such as customer information, product availability, pricing, etc.) that drive any or all of the above. Establishing this kind of interoperability is one of the greatest values we can provide for you. We’ll coordinate all of these systems so they work together perfectly.
