Seiko is a well-known manufacturer of timepieces and after 130 years, SEIKO remains proudly dedicated to the perfection that founder Kintaro Hattori always strove to achieve. While continuing to offer classic styles that pay homage to SEIKO’s clockmaking foundation, showcases a collection of modern clocks in many categories, building a fresh eCommerce platform for the future of SEIKO clocks.

The Challenge

SEIKO came to InteractOne needing custom development in order to create a vanity site that featured flash sales for business to business transactions on In addition, their site was in need of core-code-hack clean up left behind by their previous developer, security patches and an upgrade to Magento 1.14. In addition, SEIKO needed assistance with their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integration, to help them uncover errors in the logic and processes powering the integration with Magento. Further, SEIKO staff required training in catalog management so they could make sales and promotional updates on their own.

Our Solution

InteractOne successfully installed necessary security patches, repaired Magento’s core code and updated the site to the latest version of Magento. In addition, we created a separate vanity B2C site with the development and support necessary for B2C flash sales. We also helped SEIKO work through issues with their ERP integration and helped the SEIKO team  to understand what was in the “black box” of logic that powered the integration to resolve issues. We provided SEIKO with training in catalog management so they could set up sales and promotions without always requiring the attention of a developer.

The Results is now running smoother and faster on a clean and updated version of Magento. With the training and know-how to create and manage B2B flash sales without development support, SEIKO has the ability to drive sales in a way unavailable to them previously.

ADA Compliance

Under a separate scope of work, SEIKO came to InteractOne with a request to ensure that their Magento eCommerce sites were all ADA compliant. To accomplish this request, we reviewed the sites against ADA requirements and pinpointed all the non-compliant issues.  We then did the necessary technical programming work of correcting the front-end display and content to provide ADA compliance.
